I. Location:
The OLD IRISH FARMHOUSE CARROWCULLEN is located on Ireland’s WILD ATLANTIC WAY near Skreen, County Sligo.
Ladies Brae and Knockachree, in the Ox Mountains, rise dramatically immediately behind CARROWCULLEN, as a backdrop with ever-changing skies.
The OLD IRISH FARMHOUSE CARROWCULLEN is a 22.9 kilometers (23 minutes) drive to Sligo’s W B Yeats Building visitor centre and the Sligo County Museum, in the centre of historic Sligo.
II. The farmhouse:
CARROWCULLEN is an 1880’s traditional six-room OLD IRISH FARMHOUSE, offering space for up to six guests. It has been been meticulously restored by the owner, a heritage specialist.
From stepping over the threshold into the heart of the house — the stone hearth kitchen — it offers a ‘step back in time.’ It provides a truly unique experience as a holiday rental. For those with Irish roots, it offers as well a base to touch tangibly those roots and to explore their Irish ancestry and heritage in the natural setting of WILD ATLANTIC WAY.
CARROWCULLEN offers guests the opportunity to engage with the 19th century. Period features include original stonework, hearth, fireplaces, internal doors, staircase, decorative paint and furniture.
To these have been added historical furnishings and Victorian sanitary ware complementing the original features.
Because of these combined features, it is, in the words of one visitor, ‘just like my grandmother’s home!’
III. The setting:
In addition, the OLD IRISH FARMHOUSE CARROWCULLEN offers guests the opportunity to engage with inspiring, dramatic and ever-changing natural settings.
The farmhouse is set well back from a quiet country road.
A traditional dry-stone wall lined lane, without any intrusive modern features, welcomes guests, as it has family, farmers, labourers and visitors since the 1880s.
It sits within a timeless, rugged fourteen-acre farm with outbuildings, stream, natural springs and sheep.
Nature features in abundant striking manifestations.
Furthermore, the OLD IRISH FARMHOUSE CARROWCULLEN guests can take advantage of the immediate Ladies Brae and Knockachree and Sligo popular walking trails and bicycling routes, which lead directly from its lane and the quiet country road.
CARROWCULLEN also supports traditional music and crafts as well as embracing sustainability and biodiversity.

CARROWCULLEN’s holiday rental facilities for up to six guests include:
Ground floor: traditional kitchen with butlers sink, stove, gas cooker; understairs toliet; parlour, additional dining/bed room (with sink and toilet).
First floor: one large bedroom with double bed and sink; one bedroom with two single beds and sink, a small bedroom with day bed; family bathroom.
Additional facilities: wifi throughout the house; small tv with dvd player; locked annex with washer and dryer (charges apply); limited (and by prior arrangement) space for bicycle/sports gear storage; grounds adjacent to house; walking lane leading directly from the house.
Free parking space for two vehicles, off lane immediately adjacent to house.
