Farmhouse: dogs allowed on ground floor only and are not allowed on the furniture. Be advised that the property is furnished with antiques. Pet booking fee applies: €50. Biogradable dog poo bags and caddy in front garden provided for collection only on the property.

The private lane joins with a forestry path with views of Ladies Brae, Knock Achree and Knockalongy. This path leads back to the country road for a short ‘loop’ walk back to Carrowcullen. Perfect for a stroll beneficial both to two and four legs!!!!

In addition, the enclosed but not dog-proof hedge and sheep-fenced area around the house provides an opportunity to excercise your dog, under supervision. Moreover, seating around the farmhouse enhances guests’ experiences with their dogs and with the special sense of place that is Carrowcullen.

The country road leads to one of the Sligo walking trails roads on the Wild Atlantic Way. At the crest of the hill, Ladies Brae offers spectacular views of Benbulben, Knocknarea, in one direction as well as the Atlantic Ocean in the other. A picnic bench provides the ideal ‘pause’ for ‘paws’ spot! It also offers views over Carrowcullen, the steep hill opposite which was once part of its lands, and to Dunmoran Strand with the Atlantic Ocean. The river that runs around Carrowcullen, ultimately meets the sea at Dunmoran Strand.

From Ladies Brae the road ascends to Knockalongy, the highest of the Ox Mountains (544m/1785ft high). Its mountain top road leads over open moors with stunning geological formations and views. A picnic table and parking area next to a mountain river provides another destination.

Carrowcullen the Old Irish Farmhouse offers and ideal base to explore nearby destinations
Using Carrowcullen, the Old Irish Farmhouse as a base, local destinations are conveniently reached nearby by way of the N59 These include the beach Dunmoran Strand (8 minute drive). Slightly further are the beach at Aughris Head (13 minutes) (however dogs are not allowed on the Aughris Head walk) and Easkey (14 minutes drive). In the other direction off the N59 are Streamstown (15 minute drive) on Ballysadare bay and Ballysadare river walks (18 minutes). These (apart from the Aughris Head walk) offer a dog-friendly walking on your way to other destinations.
